Q: Epileptic attack: My mother had an epilectic attack and she is taking medicine what do you think?
My grandmother told us that when my mother was about 3 yrs, she had epileptic attacks so she used to take medicenes. By age 5 she stop using medicene and never had epileptic attacks anymore.
Now that she is about 35 she had one epileptic attack. At least that’s what the paramedics though. She was about to go to sleep when she started.
These are the signs:
She was like a pupet, she didnt move any muscle. We didn’t know what it was so we try to sit her on the edge of the bet. I remember her eyes being open, she ocassionally blinked. She seemed to be out of his mind, like if she couln’t understang nothing of what we screamed. Her breathing seemed strange. All these took like 3 minuntes. Then she seemed to start sleeping. I even think she was snorling for a bit. The sleepeng took like 2 minutes.
Then the paramedict came, she kind of woke up but she was again like out of her mind. This time she seemed like if she was very drunk. She would start looking there then there. A paramedic pinch her finger to take blood and she seemed to not feel anything. Finally when they were taking her out she seemed to recover her mind a bit. She asked what had happened. Then in the ambulance she told me that her head hurted and that she feeled very confused. She coulnt remember a lot of thing. Like what she ate in the morning and the year she was born. She could easyly remember us(her family).
Then she was examined in the hospital but they didn’t find anything that could cause an epilemptic attack. Now she is taking medicine. 2 pills a day one in the morning and one at night.
The name of the medicine is “Levetiracetam 500MG Tablets”
What concerns me is that the medicine may damage her liver. Do you believe she should be taking this? Does this seems as an epileptic attack?
ho and something i forgot: she(my mom) had been very streesed out before the attack. Her eyes had many eye dark circles. Sometimes she looked like a sombie. She is obes about 250-300 pound.
A: It could have been a seizure I suppose although I haven’t witnessed one like this before(My sister in law is epileptic) there are other things it could have been as well.did they do a head C.T.? I’m concerned it might have been a mild stroke.I think you should at least get a second opinion in this case.I’ve also seen people have a similar reaction with extreme low blood sugar although I assume the medics ruled that out. Either way a second opinion is warranted here.Good luck. I hope she’s okay.
Q: does keppra give you nightmares?
Keppra (Levetiracetam) is a medicine for Epilepsy, which i have .. if your going to comment please no jokes
i’ve been having a lot of nightmares recently and its been getting worse and worse (to a point where all my dreams are nightmares or i have none at all ) but i heard rumors that Keppra can give you nightmares is that true or is it people blaming it on there pills (in a way~)
…thanks (i dont tend to get god answers on this site but thanks anyhow )
ah oops i forgot to add this i’ve been taking them since i was 5 (i know right icky taste is icky ) and last year they had to raise the dosage so that’s why i think it may be the keppra … sorry for not adding that before >.<
A: It’s possible that it’s doing that. I had the same problem for a month on it, but it did go away. I would talk to your neurologist about the problem as well.
Q: How do you get med boarded from the army due to epilepsy?
I was diagnosed with epilepsy after I joined the Army. It took 6 seizures before I was even prescribed medicine. I took 500mg of Levetiracetam twice a day, still had seizures, upped meds to 1000mg twice a day, still had seizures, now i’m taking 1000mg in the morning, & 1500 at night, & hoping it works. My chain of command has me break my profile on a daily basis, like driving. My last seizure I was training in the desert, the doctor gave me meds that you’re not to prescribe epileptics and caused me to have another seizure that same day. While I was unconscious in the hospital, the doctor took the meds and pretended she never gave them to me, & of course left that out of the report she sent my neurologist. I’ve been in the military several years now, and I use to like it, but i’m sick of being forced to take stupid risks I shouldn’t take and I would like to be med boarded. All help is appreciated.
A: You should not be driving. And you should AT A MINIMUM be having a Medical Review Board go over your situation. You sure as hell don’t need to be driving if you haven’t been seizure free for six months. You will get yourself and somebody else killed. Your commander is risking serious dereliction of duty charges if you do get hurt. Same with the doctor who prescribed you the crap drugs. But realistically, not everyone who should be charged with serious charges ever is. Take if from someone who knows. So onward from stating the obvious to actual productive steps you can take:
What unit are you in? You need to contact the Wounded Warrior Unit closest to you. You need to get a case manager assigned to you, who can assist your unit (or force them) to get your paperwork started and processed.
You need to talk to your Primary Caregiver, and tell him or her that your unit is ordering you to break your profile and is making you drive. Your Primary Caregiver is an officer for a reason. They can put a stop to that kind of thing pretty quickly. If they can’t or won’t you are free to respectfully request to speak to their boss, who is likely a LTC or COL with a full medical degree. This is the same as going up the chain of command in your unit, it shouldn’t be done lightly, but every now and then it has to be done.
Also, call the wounded warrior hotline. You aren’t technically wounded, but you definitely merit some attention and they system isn’t working right now.

Q: Parasites in my body?
This gets really nasty, so I don’t want to hear, “EW WTF?!?!?!!1111!” from anyone.
So for about a month, I had bugs living in my room. I have never seen them, so I think they are microscopic. But I turned up each morning with lots of itchy spots. After about two weeks, I could tell that it was bite marks. There were little puncture marks, two for each bite. I would wake up with about three or four new ones every day. They would itch for about five days, then the scab would fall off and a clear liquid would ooze out. I suppose that’s the venom? Well I have moved out of the room. I’ve been sleeping in the guest room for about two weeks and so far, I haven’t received any new bites. I am cleaning my old room to rid it of bugs.
Well here is where it gets nasty.
For the past two days, I’ve been having severe diarrhea. It is extremely watery and honestly, very little actual waste comes out. And it’s a brownish-green-yellow color. I can’t tell when I have to empty my bowels. I’m fine then I feel very nauseous and have to run to the bathroom to have diarrhea. I also feel very nauseous, faint and dizzy randomly. Again, I feel fine one second, then feel like I’m about to vomit and pass out the next. It only takes maybe a few minutes to go away and I feel perfectly fine again. I have not vomited thus far.
This is where it gets REALLY nasty.
I think there is a thick, stringy, EXTREMELY dark brown…ooze? Coming from my vagina. It actually might be from my anus and leaking, but I’m not sure.
I also feel glassed over, dazed and confused. I do not do drugs that are not prescribed to me.
If it is any help, I take the follow medicines for the following reasons; Levetiracetam for epilepsy, Naproxen for arthritis, Propranolol for biene tremor and anixety and YAZ for birth control and a severe menstrual pain that my gynecologist can’t figure the reason for [it is not dysmenorrhea].
I am extremely worried. I think I’m really sick.
Well X the “I haven’t vomited thus far.”
I just did.
A: Ok so it definitely sounds like you have bed bugs in your room. You need a new mattress and to spray your room. These bite and feed on your blood at night when you are sleeping. They do have dogs that can sniff them out. Otherwise an exterminator can help. These bugs are believed to sometimes cause Chagas disease which is characterized by fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, diarrhea and other stuff, but it’s probably not what you have. Your symptoms don’t really seem to be related to the bed bugs.
Sometimes women can develop rectovaginal fistulas where contents from the intestine can leak into the vagina. I have cared for patients with this problem. Stool will pass through a tunnel and leak out of the vagina.
It sounds like you should probably talk to your doctor because you seem concerned/anxious about a few different things. Maybe schedule a physical just so you can address everything at once.
