A: No, Topamax does not contain aspirin. It contains a medicine called topiramate. Topiramate is a sulfamate-substituted monosaccharide, which is not related to aspirin.

I was down to 15mg (sprinkle caps) and yesterday i took none. Probably not much help, but wanted u to know you arent alone!

Laurie- I’m not taking this medicine to lose weight. It’s a very common side effect and I was wondering how it worked for different people.
A: I take it at night because it says that one of the side effects may be potential drowsiness, so I started taking it at night to be on the safe side because I drive to work in the morning. It doesn’t really matter if it is taken in the a.m. or p.m.
I started noticing weightloss when I was on the 25mg dosage after about a month. I lost 10lbs. I am on the 50 mg dosage now. My weight hasn’t changed. I take it for migranes.
Q: Switching from Topamax to generic topiramate for seizure control?
Due to health insurance issues, I have been forced against my neuro’s advisement to switch to the generic for topamax for seizure control. I am wondering if anyone out there has had any adverse side effects when doing this. I have been on Topamax for 7+ years now and all side effects of the drug had weaned off. However, within 24 hours after making the switch, it is like I have never taken the drug before.
Has anyone else encountered this experience?
A: Generics don’t always have the exact same amount of medication in them. The dose may need to be adjusted. They also may have different fillers in them you could be allergic to.
Q: How less effective does Topamax make birth control pills like Yaz?
Everywhere keeps saying that Topamax “might” make the contraceptives less effective but no one lists how “likely” this is to occur. My GF is taking about 125 mgs a day. She’s been taking both pills for about 3 years and we haven’t had any problems. Neither her doctor nor neurologist said anything about it to her.

Q: Taking 75mg of topamax want to start taking birth control but heard it alters effectiveness any suggestions?

A: Doctors recommend using a second form of birth control because of the lowered effectiveness of the birth control pill, patch, and implant. Depending on what you are on Topamax for you may want to talk to your doctor about the effectiveness of the Topamax while on birth control. While I was on 200 mg of Topamax and the birth control pill my Topamax didn’t seem as effective and when I recently went off the birth control I had horrible side effects of the Topamax. Dizziness, blurred vision, and loss of words.
Q: How much can I decrease my Topamax by when weaning?
After taking 200 mgs of Topamax for the last 5 years for migraines, I’ve decided to wean myself off the drug. I have been taking it down in 25 mg intervals weekly, and am currently at 100 mgs. Can I just go to 50 mgs, or do I have to continue at the 25 mg decrease?
A: i think you should continue 25mg because your body is used to the 25mg increase and a drop of 50 might make it a bit upset and confused

A: I was on topamax for migraine prevention but, unfortunately, I suffered severe side effects from it so it had to be discontinued. The neurologist had told me to give it from 4 to 12 weeks (1 to 3 months) to see if it would be effective. I never made it past 2 weeks before he pulled me off the medication. Q: Did anyone start randomly crying while on the drug topamax?
I just started topamax 100mg three days ago and have had several instances where I have started randomly crying. In the mall, walking down the street, in the grocercy store checkout line,etc.
This is very out of character for me. Has anybody else had this happen to them while on this drug?
A: Never had it happen, but this is a very strong drug, and can cause pain around and/or behind your eyes. Which in your case may be making you want to cry. A: That low of a dose U may not feel side effects. It takes about 1 week till it’s in Ur system good. If Ur going to feel side effects U will in a week to two. A greater dosage would be felt sooner if again U feel them at all. Thing to keep in mind is all drugs effect everyone different. It could be it is just what U needed and U won’t experience any.
